Turing Scheme funding

Travel

The Turing scheme gives each participant a travel budget, which is calculated on the distance from the UK to your destination country.

FAQ’s

We expect all participants to carry out the mobility placement in full and align with the aims agreed in your learning agreement.

We expect everyone taking part in the Turing Scheme to have good communication skills and to be responsive, prior to, during and on completion of the placement. We do a lot of our communication through email and virtual calls to ensure arrangements are made in a timely manner.

As a participant, you are responsible for ensuring all paperwork is completed and submitted to Rinova Ltd.

You are responsible for making your own travel and accommodation arrangements, which will be reimbursed to you as detailed within your Participant Agreement.

Participants are responsible for ensuring they have relevant insurances in place prior to their mobility placement. All participants must have adequate travel and medical insurance in place to cover them for the duration of their placement. We also advise you to apply for a GHIC card prior to your travel.

If you are applying for an independent placement, the minimum amount of time your placement can be is 4 weeks.  If you are applying as a pair or as part of a group, the minimum amount of time is 2 weeks.  The maximum amount of time for a placement is 3 months. (Please note: if you have a British passport, you will be unable to stay in Europe for more than 90 days in any one year).

When you submit your application for Turing, we would like to know when your placement is planned to take place.  We are closing applications around October, (opening in Sep) we ask that no one organises a placement before December as we won’t have sufficient time to organise your placement before then if your application is successful. Placements can be organised between December 2024 and August 2025. The latest you can return back to the UK from a placement is 31st August 2025.The placement starts and ends from the day of travel to and from the destination country.

You have to travel from the UK to your placement and then back to the UK after your placement has ended. Unless due to extreme circumstances, you will need to return travel to the UK with a Turing placement.

The Turing scheme does not cover any time that you are not working on your placement, it is very strict about this. The dates for your placement need to be very clear and need to align with your travel dates. Unfortunately you will not be able to extend the mobility placement for holiday dates.
